So, battle of the bands, Velour style- happened this week. Tonight, if you were there, was one of those magical moments of music where all the artists are solid, and they can all flow. Love You Long Time is one of new favs. I’ve been hearing good things about them, but crimeny- why did the 80’s/Beastie Boys/synthesizer go out of style? Love You Long Time, I salute you. You are for good and for awesome. Matt Lewis Band, as always, kicked tail. At the end, all three bands did a live flow session, trading the mic back and forth. My grin wouldn’t go away. It was like family reunion time all over again. Very impressed, gentlemen, keep up the good work. Thanks to Velour, again, for continueing to provide the Valley with awesome music.

Hey y’all! Have you ever heard about Palomino? They are one of my personal favorites. I mean, favorites. Its getting to the point that I’m planning my schedule around Palomino shows- in pen… Anyway, Brinton Jones, lead singer for Palomino, is playing a solo show tonight at Velour tonight. If you want to spend $5 and get $100 dollars worth of warm, musical awesomeness, check it out. Also on the fight card, lineup, docket, or show… I can’t think of the word that means those other things… David Hopkins. Honestly, I don’t know him, but he comes recommended by Brinton, and I’ve never known Brinton to throw around his recommendations. Oh ya, I’m Ian. Dennison and I will be jointly blogging for your reading pleasures. We might bring in some geust bloggers now and again. But we are committed to one thing. And we will tell you about our committment later.

Soon my friends… Soon it will be here. What will be here? Is that what you are asking? Don’t be afraid to ask that. I won’t answer yet, but ask away. It is a good question. What will be here? When will it be here? Do I care if it is here? These are all good questions to ask. I can’t answer any of them for you. Only you can answer these. Keep coming back and you will be glad that you did ask these questions, that I didn’t answer them, and that you will soon be able to know the answers yourself. Yes. Yes.

Well, we finally have a projected release date for our next CD. And wiith a projected release date for the CD comes a projected date for the CD RELEASE PARTY. This is very exciting to me and to you.
The date: OCTOBER 7th OF 2006.
So get ready and tell all of your friends. We will have various artists from the CD perform at the party and we will likely give out hundreds, if not thousands, of free CDs again. If you or anyone you know is in a band and would like to be considered for this CD, we have two MAJOR requirements.
1. The band’s/artist’s music must be posted on SomethingLocal.com before the release of the CD, and
2. The band must let me know they would like to be considered for the album.
In order to load your music on the site, go to the homepage and click on the icon on the upper left side of the screen that says, “Are you part of a band? Join SomethingLocal,” or simply click here.
To let me know that you would like to be considered, send me an email at whatsup@somethinglocal.com. Let me know which of your songs you would like to be on the CD. I’ll go check it out on your SomethingLocal page. We’ll let you know if we dig it and it’s right for the CD. It’s that simple. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain! Let me hear from you. I can’t wait to see you all and all of your crazy friends at our CD RELEASE PARTY in just 2 short months!!

So, as we were working on some site updates (which we really are working on) we started thinking. Yes yes, we were really thinking. We came up with a pretty interesting question that I’m sure you all have asked at least once: “Which is the toughest of all the animals?” All you cowboys out there will undoubtabley say that the bull is the toughest. This guy is tough, but in one on one combat in the early days of California, the grizzly bear would whoop up on the bull. This crazy-tough bear would simply crush the skull or shoulders of the raging-helpless bulls. Not bad. I found this site that gave the rundown of all tough animals.
Conclusion: Grizzly bears are the toughest meat eaters on land .
Well, what about sharks or creatures of the deep? I doubt you could ever set up a fair fight for a grizzly against a sperm whale or a giant squid, what would be the point of that. It’d be like the bassist from Matt Lewis Band challenging the singer/guitarist from Abby Normal to a game of Uno. It wouldn’t prove anything. So those choices are obviously out. But do you think a bear would beat a great white shark if they fought in 4 foot of water? What about the plant eaters in Africa? How would these grizzlies fair versus an elephant or a rhino. Hippos are pretty tough too, I hear… And they’re mean! I don’t know how a grizzly could beat a rhino with it’s rhino lining. What do you think? This expert thinks a bear (a polar bear) could beat a rhino. If grizzlies could beat polar bears… Let me know your thoughts out there. I really want feedback, and if I like what you have to say, I might even post it.

Okay, Okay, I promised and I didn’t deliver. Don’t act like I’ve never done that before. I just don’t think that you are being fair with me. I just moved and the internet is still not installed. That’s why I am slow. I am stealing internet from others. Once I get my computer attached miracles will start happening. All promises will be fulfilled and all dreams will come true for all of you. I promise.
By the way, I really appreciate all of the new bands and fans that are joining our network. It is a good feeling to be involved in something that is growing so well on its own. Keep telling all of your friends about the great music that can only be found here. Thanks.

So sorry for my absence. I have been a horrible blogger for the last while in particular, but I have some great excuses. Well, I have one good excuse at least. You ready for it? Here it is: I got married. I went on a lovely honeymoon to the island of Oahu, Hawaii and in addition to all of the site-seeing, I blew up my brother’s car that he let us borrow, as he lives on the island. There is currently a hole about 2 inches wide in the engine, thanks to me. That’s a little personal note for you.
On a scene-note, we have been working with Square magazine in Provo, Ut to highlight some of our favorite bands around the Utah area. We are offering free downloads if you read the articles on the bands. There is one download per account and you would be doing yourself a huge favor to check out the magazine. This month we decided to spotlight Another Statistic. We will have their new album up on our site soon. Next month will be Benton Paul. His CD is already available for download on our site. Last month, Feb., was Cary Judd. His CD was supposed to be on our site, but we ran into some technical difficulties and it will be up as soon as we can get it there. It is another great CD and a must listen. We will update you once all of the CD’s are actually up on the site. It should be by the end of the week.

As most of you know, this site is based out of, but not exclusive to, Provo Utah. Provo is a very interesting sort of town with all sorts of people from many walks of life. Sometimes you love it here, and sometimes you hate it here. Currently, I love it here. If you don’t live in Provo or Orem and you want to get a little feel for this place, I just discovered a website that you should visit. Click *here to check out Provolegends.com.* Now, if you live here and you like to make fun of this town and the people in it, or if you just want to meet some of the famous people who make Provo what it is, visit this site.* No matter who you are, you’ll have to agree, there is no place on earth quite like Provo.

Many of you bands have signed up and have since been kicked off. It’s nothing against you, it’s just that you were either no good, or you didn’t have any songs or pictures posted. In either case, we don’t want the fans to be forced to sift through all of the incomplete pages or the pages full of pure crap. (My apologies to any of the deleted bands that I might have offended just now.) The point of this message is simple. If you were booted because of your lack of content, come back. A lot of the problems were caused because of a faulty login. We’ve fixed that, but make sure that you are logining in as a band and not a fan. If you are a fan, however, login as a fan. By the way, you’re welcome, fans, for the presorting that we have done for you. It was our pleasure. Now go enjoy some good music.
